The Miami Art Week was it’s usual spectacle, and I was able to attend all the mayhem! While some people took part in the 24 hour partying, I had a chance to have a few drinks yet not over-indulge in the madness. Here’s a quick recap of how I saw Art Basel in Miami in 2018.
This year my biggest takeaway was that there was much more in terms fo music when compared to previous years. Not just music, but LIVE music. (That’s the best in my opinion.)
There were many DJ’s headlining parties of all types, with varied crowd’s at the different sets I went to and personally viewed. On Saturday night, none other than Pharrell performed as a part of the 1 Hotel South Beach’s Platinum House party with American Express. He sang several of his popular songs but the crowd was hardly into it. In fact, the Miami New Times even reported that he said at one point “Okay, we’ll be out of your hair soon.”
The most interesting piece of Art at our Miami Art Fair was the Rainbow Bridge.
This was done in honor of the limited edition Red Bull “PACMAN” can.
The Prada party at the Broken Shaker was pretty cool. There was even an appearance by none other than Kanye West. (Some people hate him, I just like his music.)
As always, the celebs were out in full force. The aforementioned Pharrell Williams, along with David Beckham, Marc Anthony, Swizz Beatz, Ricky Martin, and a host of others were among the cleebs that were in attendance.
All in all, I’ve been to better events. But, like anything else in Miami, we get up to party any time there is an event that comes to town!
