1) 2000 McDonald’s Walt Disney Commemorative Glasses

Produced in 2000, the McDonald’s Walt Disney glasses were made to celebrate the start of the new millennium marking 100 years of Disney magic.
They were made during a collaboration between McDonald’s and Walt Disney World and feature characters from the Walt Disney theme parks. The glasses also feature the four theme parks, including Disney Studios, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Magic Kingdom.

Now known as Knottsberry Farm, McDonald’s released a set of Camp Snoopy Charlie Brown drinking glasses at a time when the Camp Snoopy theme park was about to open.
The glasses feature the Camp Snoopy characters playing in the camp, chatting to each other. The designs include Charlie Brown ‘Hard work’, Lucy ‘Properly Prepared’, Snoopy ‘Morning People’, Snoopy ‘Civilization’, and Linus ‘Struggle for Security’.
During the park launch, McDonald’s released one glass each week over a five-week period. Customers could win a glass when they purchased a drink.

The full set contains four glasses and is marked ‘Henson Associates Inc, 1981. A set of Muppets glasses was sold on eBay for $65.

On each glass is a copyright symbol with the words ‘ Garfield Characters 1978 United Features Syndicate, Inc., Jim Davis’. The McDonald’s logo is also inscribed into the glass.

What was the McDonalds Glass Controversy?
In 2010, the last batch of Shrek glasses was found to contain harmful levels of Cadmium. Cadmium can damage the kidneys, liver, lungs, bones, and nervous system.
Whilst McDonald’s insisted the glasses were safe, they recalled 12 million of them. A follow-up investigation into other painted character glasses found that they had up to 1000 times the limit of Lead in them.
